Borlotti Beans

Borlotti Beans

Borlotti beans, also known as Cranberry beans, are popular in Italian and Portuguese cuisine. These dried beans are nutty in flavour with a creamy texture.

Served Best

Borlotti beans are commonly used for soups, casseroles, salads and pasta. Due to their creamy texture, they also mash well into a dip. Use in any recipe that calls for kidney or pinto beans.

How To Cook

Soak overnight before cooking to reduce cooking time and improve digestibility. Cook over the stove - bring to the boil, simmer until soft, drain and serve.

Borlotti beans are a great source of proteins, fibre, and carbs. The total protein content constitutes nearly a quarter to the number of beans taken. They are an excellent source of minerals like potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, and calcium. Borlotti beans also have great folate content. They also contain significant amounts of vitamins like thiamine, riboflavin, pyridoxine, and niacin.
