The ripe pods boast a sweet pulp which is dried, roasted and ground into a powder which can be added to numerous recipes. Their flavour is less bitter than chocolate, possessing a naturally sweet, roasted and nutty flavour. As a result, they make an excellent natural sweetener for baked goods, protein shakes and sprinkling on banana bread. Carob chocolate also happens to be high in fiber and caffeine-free which is always a benefit!
